13 Days of Horror: Freddy Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Freddy Krueger has become synonymous with the comedic-slasher killer as of late, but that wasn’t initially the persona of Freddy Krueger in the first Nightmare on Elm Street. Instead, audiences were introduced to a truly nightmarish individual who was the very epitome of evil. Freddy Krueger hides in the shadows of this film and only reveals himself when he wants to terrify or murder you. Freddy Krueger enjoys the thrill of scaring his victims before murdering them, like a predator hunting its prey, which is what made him scary to endure in the first movie. There is a reason as to why the characters are desperate to stay awake, because Freddy Krueger is someone nobody wants to encounter.
